Ponder

A few years ago, during the Para-Olympics 

in Seattle, nine participants, all mentally 

retarded or physically challenged, had aligned 

themselves for the 100 meter hurdles. 

     
Although at the given signal they didn't 

start exactly at that moment, nor orderly, they 

were determined to finish the race and thus win. 

All they had to do in order to win the race was 

to finish it. 

All managed to finish it, except for a 

young athlete that fell over the runway passage 

of the first hedge. Because of the pain and of 

the sorrow, he began to cry. The others hearing 

his cry came back for him. They slowed down and 

eventually they stopped. 

In that day an unprecedented situation 

occurred, eight out of the nine athletes 

returned in order to help the ninth athlete, 

which was in need of assistance. A girl with 

the down syndrome came up to the wounded to 

give him a kiss and to encourage him: 

     "Do not worry, the pain will go away." 

 
Although that day the world record was not 

beaten from any point of view, but the race was 

finished by all nice athletes which past the 

finish line together, holding each other with 

their arms. 

The whole stadium stood up and cheered 

them for several minutes. They were even more 

enthusiastic in the presence of such a wonderful 

gesture then when a record was beaten.

     Why was this possible? 

Because we all know well, that basically, 

the most important thing in this life is not 

so much winning by yourself, but helping others 

to win as well, even if you have to slow down 

and maybe turn back to help others.

John Lennon (Singer):

Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.


Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil ):
During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency.

Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.



Cazuza (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet):


During A show in Canecio ( Rio de Janeiro ),

while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: 'God, that's for you.'

He died at the age of 32 of AIDS in a horrible manner.


The man who built the Titanic

After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be.

With an ironic tone he said:
'Not even God can sink it'

The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic .


Marilyn Monroe (Actress)

She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show.
He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her.
After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said:
'I don't need your Jesus'.

A week later, she was found dead in her apartment .

Bon Scott (Singer)
The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang:
'Don't stop me, I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell'.

On the 19th of February 1980 , Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit .

Campinas (IN 2005)
In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend.....
The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car:

'My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You..'
She responded: 'Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, Cause Inside Here.....It's Already Full '

Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died,
the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact.

The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken .

Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written.

In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle .

Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus.

Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive .

Life is single line walk

Each man has his own criteria for deciding 

both shortcoming and advantages or qualities. 

 During this long march that we call life,

 During this time, on our backs we still 

have the weight of our vices which hang 

miserably. 

 We pretend to ignore it, because we are

which are in front of us and we are free 

to see that they have a bag of drawbacks.

 We consider that we are better than him, 

forgetting that those who walk behind us 

can also see our bag of drawbacks. Those 

also consider us less deserving and do not 

give us the respect we need.

My many qestions for Nigerian Leaders Pt 1

As we begin a new year and prepare for the forthcoming elections, methinks this is the best time to ask our incumbent and aspiring leaders some pertinent questions; so that the latter will come to terms with enormous taks ahead of him and the former will check the scorecard and know how well he has fared.
It never ceases to bother me why a nation as blessed as my dear nation could still be so stressed and except our leaders and indeed all Nigerians answer the following questions, our dream of a better Nigeria could be one step further. Does this mean that I have lost confidence in the Nigeria State? Obviously No! I believe so much in this country that I even blogged about the "Nigeria of my dreams", but a stitch in time they say saves nine. Our leaders have sown to the wind and we are now reaping the whirlwind of all sorts of menace, it has grown so bad that the"son of a butcher, who should have access to all sorts of meats is now left with the only option of eating bones" ( Native Nigerian adage).
1. When will the average Nigerian be proud that he is from this country?
2. When will power outage and shortage be a thing of the past?
3. When will Nigerians stop rejoicing and dancing all about because they have what should naturally be theirs?
4. When will holding elective offices, stop being a route to syphoning our collective funds?

Why?
These and many other quetions are boiling in my heart.
